How Babies Are Made

Attraction between two people is normal, and once you grow older, that attraction and liking may turn into a sexual nature. While sex is not reserved for the purpose of reproduction, some sexual acts can result in pregnancies. When a woman is pregnant with a child, it is essentially the result of this sexual act. Many of us were told that babies are made by God, or appear magically as a gift, and other such tales. However, babies are created by the union of a male and a female.

When two people are sexually attracted to each other, they often take part in sexual intercourse. In a heterosexual interaction, this may involve a man inserting his penis in a woman’s vagina. If the couple are not using a contraceptive (like condoms, birth control pills) and the man reaches his peak of pleasure or climaxes inside the woman, this may lead to a pregnancy. The man’s climax is a release of sperm which makes its way into the woman’s vagina. If the sperm and the egg meet and fuse, this results in the creation of a fertilized egg which is how the baby grows. It takes approximately nine months for the fertilized egg to fully grow from a fetus to a baby and be born.

While this is how a baby is made, not every act of intercourse may result in a pregnancy. Sometimes, the sperm and the egg do not meet. However, this is not something that the couple can predict, thus most people prefer to have protected sex. While sex without condoms may not lead to a pregnancy if the woman is taking birth-control pills, condoms are the only form of protection against sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

While having sexual relationships is healthy, it is important for the presence of consent. Both parties have to agree to all the sexual acts performed, and it is the most important part of the act. Without consent, the act is not sex but rape, as it is done unwillingly. Watch this informative video on consent by clicking here.
